Hi, I’m the person behind Smash & Glass
Two minutes into my first game of padel, I was hooked. I didn’t grow up playing racket sports, and my first few sessions were exactly as awkward as you’d expect — mistimed smashes, lobs that landed nowhere near where I wanted them, and a lot of laughing at myself. But something about the game clicked. The mix of tactics, teamwork, and that satisfying “thwock” of a clean shot pulled me in, and I haven’t looked back since.
Smash & Glass started as notes I kept for myself — which racket to buy, which drills actually helped, what nobody tells you before your first session. Eventually I realised other beginners were asking the same questions, so I turned those notes into this blog.
Why this blog exists
Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world right now, which also means there’s a flood of generic content and self-serving gear ads out there. My goal with Smash & Glass is simple: give beginners and intermediate players honest, practical guides without the fluff — the kind of advice I wish someone had handed me before my first session.
What you’ll find here
- Beginner guides — start with the Beginner Section if you’re brand new to the sport.
- Gear reviews — honest breakdowns of rackets, shoes, and equipment, including what’s not worth your money.
- Technique guides — step-by-step breakdowns of every shot, from the basics to the bandeja and vibora.
- Drills & strategy — practical ways to actually get better, not just play more.
Browse the full Blog for everything, or start with the Beginner Section if you’re just getting into the sport.
A quick note on honesty
Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you buy through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend gear I’d actually use myself, and that will never change for a sponsorship.
